Subhankar Bala, who grew up in Jhargram during Maoist unrest, left his engineering job at Texas Instruments to pursue civil services. Inspired by an SDO he once saw working in villages, he cleared UPSC with AIR 79 in 2020 after overcoming initial setbacks. Now an IAS officer in Murshidabad, he works closely with citizens to drive development.
