Frozen brain tissue revived in major cryopreservation breakthrough

Scientists at the University of Erlangen–Nuremberg revived frozen mouse brain tissue using vitrification, preserving neurons, mitochondria, and neural circuits after thawing at −196°C. Published in PNAS, the study shows brain cells can regain electrical activity after freezing. Though limited to tissue slices, it marks a major advance in cryopreservation and future organ or neurological research.
