FSSAI cracks down on pesticides and colouring agents in tea

With the onset of monsoon, the charm of enjoying a roadside dhaba tea may soon diminish. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is scrutinizing tea dust and leaves for high levels of pesticides and toxic food colouring agents like Rhodamine-B and Carmoisine. These additives, found in tea during processing, pose serious health risks, including cancer.
