An unauthorised furniture market located in Sectors 53 and 54 in Chandigarh was demolished on Sunday. The demolition was done in the presence of local administration and police. The unauthorised market, functioning since 1985, housed 116 shops and occupied approximately 15 acres of agricultural land in Sectors 53 and 54. The improper parking outside the shops blocked passage of vehicles.
