The European Union (EU) has banned gel nail polishes and other cosmetics containing TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide). The chemical, widely used for its glossy finish and fast drying under UV or LED light, has been deemed unsafe. EU regulators banned it citing studies that linked TPO exposure to fertility issues and other adverse effects on reproductive health.
