Genomic map of Asian Hornbills unveils ancient secrets
Researchers from MAHE, CCMB Hyderabad, and NCF have unveiled the first high-quality reference genomes for four threatened Asian hornbills, offering insight into the evolutionary history of these iconic rainforest birds. To overcome the limitations of traditional short-read sequencing, the team used a hybrid strategy combining long-read Oxford Nanopore technology with Illumina short reads.
