German court removes ban on professionally assisted suicide
short by Shailesh / on Wednesday, 26 February, 2020
A German court termed a law banning professionally assisted suicide in the country unconstitutional and overturned it. Judge Andreas Vosskuhle said, "The right to a self-determined death [included] the freedom to take one's life and seek help doing so." The law was introduced in 2015 but it was challenged by terminally ill patients, doctors and assisted suicide organisations.
