German Opposition seeks immediate trust vote after govt collapses

The Opposition in Germany on Thursday called for an immediate trust vote rather than Chancellor Olaf Scholz's offer to hold it next year as the coalition government collapsed. Months of infighting culminated in the breakup of Scholz's three-way faction on Wednesday with the chancellor firing his finance minister Christian Lindner. Jörg Kukies was appointed the new finance minister.
