The German economy is on the brink of a recession. The country's GDP contracted by 0.1% in the second quarter of this year, as opposed to analysts' expectation of 0.1% growth, government data released on Tuesday showed. Germany had avoided a technical recession, defined as two consecutive quarters of contraction in the GDP, at the start of this year.
