Germany passes self-determination law to ease gender change rules

The German Bundestag approved a bill enabling individuals to change their gender and first name by notifying the registry office, eliminating the need for medical certification, expert opinions, or court orders. Changes must be registered three months beforehand, and individuals over 14 can submit declarations independently. The bill aims to replace the Transsexuals Act of 1980.
