A study by Monash University and National University of Singapore found that gestational diabetes is linked with a decline in intellectual function among mothers. It added that children born to such mothers are at 45% higher risk for total and partial developmental delays, are 36% more likely to have ADHD and have 56% increased risk for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
