'Ghost snake' species discovered in Madagascar

American scientists have recently discovered a new snake species in Madagascar and named it 'Madagascarophis lolo' or 'ghost snake' owing to its pale grey colouration. The 'ghost snake' belongs to a group of cat-eyed snakes with vertical pupils, often found among nocturnal snakes. Analyses of genetics and physical characteristics helped confirm the distinctly patterned snake to be a new species.
