UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino was elected as the ninth FIFA President on Friday. The post was previously held by Sepp Blatter for more than 17 years before being suspended in October 2015. Swiss football executive Infantino defeated Asian Football Confederation head Sheikh Salman, Jordan Football Association President Prince Ali bin al-Hussein and former FIFA executive Jérôme Champagne.
