General Motors (GM) today announced it is acquiring US-based driverless car technology startup Cruise Automation for an undisclosed sum to develop the company's autonomous vehicle technology. Cruise will operate as an independent unit within GM’s recently formed Autonomous Vehicle Development Team. Founded in 2013, Cruise makes sensors to turn regular vehicles into ones that can drive themselves.
