GM shifts $4 bn plan to gas vehicles, delays EV rollout to 2027

General Motors will retool its Michigan Orion plant to build gas-powered Escalade, Silverado, and Sierra models starting in 2027, shelving earlier EV plans. The $4 billion investment spans three states as GM responds to weak EV demand and changes in Trump-era policies. Additionally, the Mexico plant faces new shutdowns, while GM cites 'strong customer demand', and its stock is up 2.6% in 2025.
