Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said the "new disease" of going abroad for studies among children is creating "forex drain" and "brain drain". He estimated that around 13 lakh students went abroad in 2024, creating "a hole of $6 billion in our foreign exchange". Dhankhar also spoke about how education has become a commodity which is being sold for profit.
