Gold rises 2% to hit new record high in global market over Trump's Greenland tariff

Gold rose about 2% while silver climbed 4.4% to hit fresh all-time highs in the international market as US President Donald Trump imposed 10% tariffs on eight European countries for opposing US' takeover of Greenland. Spot gold hit a peak of $4,690.59 an ounce and spot silver surged to $94.1213 an ounce. The 10% levy will be implemented from February.
