Google changes free storage rules for new users

Google is reportedly testing a new policy where some new accounts receive only 5GB of free cloud storage instead of the usual 15GB. Users can unlock the full storage by linking a phone number during account setup. The company said the test, currently limited to select regions, aims to improve account security, identity verification, and data recovery for new users.
