Google has overcome a 20-year-old quantum computing bottleneck by demonstrating "magic state cultivation" on its Willow processor. Creating error-corrected "magic states", essential for universal quantum computing, previously consumed up to 95% of a system's resources. Google reduced errors by about 40 times on Willow, marking a major step towards building practical quantum computers.
