Google DeepMind launches AGI societal impact institute

Google DeepMind has launched a new research institute to study AGI's (Artificial general intelligence) impact on society, science, and the economy. Co-founder Shane Legg will serve as Managing Editor, alongside SVP James Manyika and Chair Demis Hassabis. Research areas include AI-driven economic policy, equitable AI access, decision transparency, and human well-being.
