Google hands student journalist’s data to ICE without court order

Google handed over personal data of British student and journalist Amandla Thomas-Johnson to US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in response to a subpoena that had not been approved by a judge, The Intercept reported. The data reportedly includes usernames, addresses, IPs, phone numbers and financial details. Thomas-Johnson had attended a pro-Palestinian protest in 2024.
