The homepage of the world’s largest search engine Google looks bare because its founders had limited knowledge of HTML. "We didn't have a webmaster and I don't do HTML," Google Co-founder Sergey Brin was once quoted as saying.​ Google was incorporated on September 4, 1998 and still maintains the minimalistic look.
