A tourist group from Hyderabad drove into a pond near Kurupunthura early Saturday, following Google Maps. Heavy rain had submerged the road, leading the unfamiliar travellers into the water. They escaped through the back glass of the vehicle. Locals noted this is a recurring issue due to the lack of warning signs on the road.
