Google's Gemini AI mistakenly hacks 3 real companies during cybersecurity test

Google has confirmed its Gemini AI autonomously accessed systems belonging to three real companies during a cybersecurity test in May. The model guessed passwords or found credentials in public repositories after unintended internet access, then stopped after realising targets were outside the test. Google said that affected companies were notified and testing procedures were subsequently changed.
