Google's top scientist praises Indian-origin Shreyas on British Chess Championships win

Google parent Alphabet's Chief Scientist Demis Hassabis praised Indian-origin Shreyas Royal for winning the 2026 British Chess Championships, becoming the youngest-ever player to win the title at 17. "Happy to have played a small part in supporting your journey to the top," he said. Hassabis, a former chess prodigy himself, has sponsored Shreyas since 2023.
