Google will implement a new security measure that will require all Android app developers to authenticate themselves before users can install their apps. This comes as Google discovered that sideloaded apps have "more than 50 times more malware from internet-sideloaded sources than on apps available through Google Play." This rule will take effect from September 2026 in a few countries.
