Google to end country-specific search domains globally

Google announced it will end country code top-level domain names (ccTLD) and redirect traffic from ccTLD to its primary domain, google.com, to streamline people’s experience globally on Search. This change will be rolled out gradually over the coming months and users may have to re-enter some of their search preferences in process. "Country-level domains are no longer necessary," Google said.
