Google will launch an experimental Windows desktop app that combines AI search capabilities with local file access. This "Google app for Windows", available via Google Labs, allows users to press Alt+Space to instantly search across local computer files, installed apps, Google Drive documents, and the web through a unified interface. This app directly challenges Microsoft's native Windows Search.
