Subhash Ghisingh, founder-leader of the Gorkhaland Movement in northern Bengal, passed away on Thursday at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. He was suffering from liver cirrhosis. Ghisingh was the foremost leader of the movement for a separate homeland for the Gorkhas in northern Bengal. He had earlier served in the army, as part of the Assam Rifles.
