The government has appointed Sanjay Kumar Agarwal as the Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). This comes after the superannuation of his predecessor Vivek Johri. Agarwal, a 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) official, was holding the charge of CBIC member compliance management. Further, the government appointed IRS official Surjit Bhujabal as CBIC member.
