No charges on UPI transactions up to ₹2,000: Finance Ministry

The Finance Ministry clarified that banks and payment providers cannot impose direct or indirect charges on UPI transactions up to ₹2,000. A notification under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, also covered RuPay debit card payments. The move addressed concerns that recent amendments to payments law could lead to UPI transaction fees.
