Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, presenting the Union Budget 2026 in Parliament, announced the government will build and develop seven high-speed rail corridors to enhance regional connectivity, industrial growth, and passenger mobility. These will be Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Varanasi, Bengaluru-Chennai, Pune-Hyderabad, Hyderabad-Bengaluru, Hyderabad-Chennai, and Varanasi-Siliguri.
