The Union cabinet on Thursday approved a ₹23,731 crore 'GOBARdhan' (Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources dhan) scheme for Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG). Under the scheme, the Centre will provide up to ₹2 crore/tons per day for plant, feedstock and organic manure processing machinery. The scheme will reduce India's energy import dependence and is likely to save around ₹40,000 crore in forex.
