The Centre on Wednesday approved the extension in service for Cabinet Secretary TV Somanathan for a period of one year beyond August 30, 2026. As per a notification, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by PM Narendra Modi, approved the extension. Somanathan is a 1987-batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer and was appointed Cabinet Secretary in August 2024.
