Govt approves test of ₹10 and ₹20 notes made of plastic

The Centre has approved Reserve Bank of India's proposal to introduce 100 crore notes each of ₹10 and ₹20 denominations on a trial basis, Parliament was informed on Monday. The government noted that plastic/polymer banknotes have a longer lifespan as compared with paper banknotes. There's no proposal to replace paper currency with plastic currency as of now, the Centre clarified.
