The government has notified new regulations mandating all higher education institutions to form "equity squads" to address discrimination complaints and promote equity. The squads will patrol vulnerable spots on campus and report to Equal Opportunity Centre. The squads must include members of Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, persons with disabilities, and women.
