Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal has asked all states to use piped natural gas (PNG) as an alternative cooking fuel after the Strait of Hormuz conflict increased oil prices globally. "OMCs are currently facing a loss of ₹690/cylinder of LPG, which translates to around a loss of ₹1,38,000 crore per annum," he wrote, adding that PNG is "cleaner and user-friendly."
