Govt bans fixed-dose combination for common cold in children aged under 4

The government has prohibited the sale and use of all fixed-dose combinations (FDCs) containing chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride for children below four years of age. The decision was taken after recommendations of an expert committee. Phenylephrine hydrochloride with chlorpheniramine maleate is a combined medication to relieve cold and flu symptoms.
