The government has purchased nearly 71,000 tonnes of onion so far this year for buffer stock, PTI reported citing an official. Authorities are on track to achieve targeted procurement of 5 lakh tonnes for price stabilisation, the official said. The retail prices are expected to ease with the progress of monsoon over most parts of the country, the official added.
