The government has classified the 106 inland waterways in India into three categories based on their viability of development as transport channels, Minister of State for Shipping P Radhakrishnan said on Monday. Further, feasibility studies are being conducted on them, he added. Notably, the National Waterways Act came into force last month which declared these channels as national waterways.
