Govt clears ₹40,000 crore to build 8 next-gen stealth ships for Indian Navy

Central government has approved a project worth over ₹40,000 crore to build eight Next-Generation Corvettes (NGCs) for the Indian Navy, ANI reported quoting top government officials. Corvettes are warships of around 2,000 tons and can move at high speeds of around 30 knots. The first vessel is targeted for delivery by 2030.
