Govt declares Popular Front of India as 'unlawful association', bans it for 5 years

In a notification, the government said that Popular Front of India (PFI) and its affiliate organisations or fronts have been declared "unlawful association" with immediate effect under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The outfit has also been banned for the next five years. This comes after nationwide raids and arrest of leaders and functionaries of PFI.
