Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday said the state government employees will get 12-month maternity leave and 1 month of paternity leave. As per the Maternity Benefit Act 1961, a working woman is entitled to six months of paid maternity leave. Tamang said this move will help government employees to take better care of their children and families.
