Road Transport and Highways Ministry has explained significance of road markings, stating that continuous yellow lines painted on the kerb along with a "No Parking" sign indicate no parking areas. The broken lines in the middle of the road mean you can cross or straddle it. If the white line is continuous, you shouldn't cross or overlap it, ministry stated.
