The Centre is planning to send delegations to Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines in the coming months to enhance outbound shipments of basmati variants, Moneycontrol reported, citing sources. The move aims to create a market for the long-grain basmati in rice-producing nations that are more used to shorter-grain jasmine or sticky rice. India exported basmati worth $5.9 billion in 2024-25.
