The government is reportedly considering a plan to transfer cash to farmers instead of offering subsidies on various agricultural inputs. Reports added that the additional cost is expected to be limited to ₹70,000 crore annually after a full roll-out of the program. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had budgeted ₹70,100 crore for farm subsidies in the year ending March 31.
