The government is considering action against prediction market apps like Polymarket and Kalshi. This comes amid the apps being used to place bets on outcomes of Assembly elections, the IPL, and other events. Ministry of Electronics and IT Secretary S Krishnan said that while such apps are banned under the Online Gaming Act, users continue to access them via VPNs.
