Kamal Gianchandani, President of Multiplex Association of India (MAI) requested government to introduce new Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure for movie tickets. He said, "Anything up to ₹300 should attract 5% GST, and anything higher than ₹300 can attract 18% GST." He explained that inflation over the last 7.5 years and COVID has led to change in cinema consumption.
