The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Fourth Amendment Rules, 2026. The objective is to strengthen enforcement and rationalise fee collection for overloaded vehicles on national highways. Under the amended rules, effective April 15, vehicles exceeding 40% overloading will attract four times the base rate.
