Govt panel clears foreign banks to open Indian branches

A government inter-departmental committee has cleared RBI proposals allowing foreign banks to open branches, offices, or subsidiaries in India. Chaired by the Department of Financial Services, the panel consulted key ministries before approval. During the meeting, after due deliberations, the Committee recommended the proposals placed before it.
